It all started during the lockdown, when the streets were bare and I couldn’t help but think of all the street vendors and how much business they were losing. Yes, lots of shops were losing business, but most other shops have an online store. iKamva Store is giving talented vendors a platform.

These men and women are not just traders, they are artists. They can make pretty much anything with their hands, and we can inspire them as to what is trending.

The challenges street vendors face with regards to selling their products are so large and unnecessary. For example, they cannot sell their goods on rainy days, or when the streets are empty at night. BUT now, with their new online presence, they can sell their products whenever and also keep better track of sales, stock and revenue.

These vendors WANT to work hard and are so talented, it is about time South Africa and the rest of the world get to see them.

Our AIM is to promote sustainably handmade, African products on an e-commerce platform to take away the unreliability for the vendors. We want their products to be available 24/7 and to the entire world. Transactions will be safe with regards to one’s physical safety as well as against Covid-19.
